Job summary

A leading consulting firm is seeking an experienced Associate Director for their Technology, Vision & Architecture team. The role involves driving Government transformation programmes, aligning technology strategies with executive stakeholders, and mentoring teams. Ideal candidates will have significant experience advising government entities, managing complex projects, and a deep understanding of emerging technologies. This is a permanent position with a flexible, hybrid working model.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in GPS, working with government or major government programmes.
• Experience providing advisory services at the Board-level.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and architecture domains.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML and low code/no code technologies.
• Experience in team building, training, and staff assessments.

This exciting role will involve the following:

• Work with Governments CDIOs, CTOs, Department Leads and Executive Board stakeholders to align the case for change and application of next generation digital and innovative technology solutions.
• Drive large complex and innovative Government transformation programmes from strategy, architecture and business case through to discovery, delivery and live service
• Apply Government Service Standards and delivery methods to deliver public facing service.
• Create propositions driving business development activities in Government and Public Services.
• Provide mentorship and build competence in TV&A team across GPS.
• Lead large client engagements, with a strong market trends awareness around the architecture, digital technologies, and cloud platforms.
• Lead architecture teams that deliver Enterprise Architecture or technology strategies.
• Lead definition and delivery of the client’s architecture vision, as well as effective architecture options analysis & design decisions.
• Lead definition and execution of the client’s architecture management, governance and assurance process.
• Lead the development of architecture methods and collateral to build architecture community and capability.
• Use architecture knowledge and skills to support business development, build external eminence and lead

Depending on the level you are applying for, please demonstrate the following for this grade (Associate Director):

• Significant experience in GPS, which might include working within or as an advisor to central or local government or as a supplier to major government programmes.
• Significant experience providing advisory services up to Board-level and engaging C-suite stakeholders
• Significant experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC) and demonstrate depth and breadth across the architecture domains: Applications, Data, DevOps, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Platforms, Security, Integration, Business Architecture
• Strong understanding of emerging and innovative technologies, like AI/ML and no code/low code, and how to shape IT strategy and delivery to leverage those technologies.
• Experience in capability development activities, such as team building, training, recruitment, career planning, staff assessments.
• Demonstrable external or internal eminence by contributing to thought leadership, methods, knowledge management, points of view, speaking at industry events, membership of industry groups or publications
• Successful delivery of COTS based solutions (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Service Now, etc), Digital Services and Legacy change to Government standards.
• Experience engaging and leading diverse teams drawing together those with a wide range of capabilities and perspectives and demonstrating commitment to diversity and inclusion
• Track record in managing the successful delivery of large or complex programmes / engagements on time and within budget
• Proven risk awareness and sound judgment in the management of risk from both client and supplier perspectives
• Eligibility to undergo the process for government SC clearance, noting that as a minimum this will require at least 5 years residency within the UK
• Certifications in Enterprise Architecture frameworks (TOGAF, LeanIX, ArchiMate and more), Cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP), Agile, ITIL, COBIT or any leading platform solution would be advantageous
