A leading consultancy in the UK is seeking an Associate Procurement Director to manage procurement strategies and lead a skilled team. The ideal candidate will have experience in regulated procurement, tender preparation, and project management across various sectors including Defence and Utilities. Job description

The employer offers the opportunity to work on various commissions and provides industry-leading training and support.

They are looking for candidates with previous experience in Defence, Utilities, Infrastructure (such as roads, rail), Mining and Minerals, and other Natural Resources.

Hybrid working is available, although the client dictates the working model.

The hiring company is one of the largest and most reputable consultancies in the UK, delivering end-to-end procurement services to large brands and exciting programmes and projects.

As Associate Procurement Director, you will lead a highly skilled team of strategic procurement professionals and deliver services to public and private sector clients, focusing on central and local government, defence, infrastructure, power, and utilities.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide specialist procurement strategy advice to public and private sector clients.
  • Lead and manage end-to-end procurement services on major projects or programmes.
  • Lead and support the development of procurement services.
  • Lead and develop a team to achieve successful outcomes for clients.
  • Manage client relationships and related commission outputs and deliverables.
  • Lead and support business development and marketing of the Contract Services team’s service proposition.
  • Lead on bid preparation and proposal documentation and support the work-winning capability of the contract services division.
  • Support the delivery of both team and wider business targets.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of regulated procurement, particularly Public Contract Regulations 2015.
  • Previous experience in leading strategic major procurement projects or programmes for public and private sector clients.
  • A strong background in tender preparation, development, and management, including negotiation.
  • Commission, client relationship, and people management experience.
  • Experience developing and using various forms of contracts, with a focus on NEC and JCT.
  • Cross-sector experience with a strong public procurement background is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in Defence, Utilities, Infrastructure, Mining, Oil, and Gas sectors.
  • Security Clearance is ideal.
  • Ability to lead and develop key strategies and documentation for major procurement projects that comply with Public Sector Regulations or equivalent.
  • Able to manage and supervise the delivery of others for a successful outcome.
  • Able to build strong, professional client relationships and proactively identify and resolve client issues.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • A degree related to construction, civil engineering, quantity surveying, law, or procurement is preferred.
  • MCIPS accreditation achieved or willingness to work towards MCIPS accreditation.
