Job summary

A leading consultancy firm in the UK is seeking an experienced professional to assist clients in improving their data protection compliance and act as outsourced data protection officer. The role entails delivering data protection gap analysis, advising on compliance obligations, and supporting clients' ongoing compliance from a hybrid or home-based setup. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of GDPR and have at least 4 years of experience in a consultancy role.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of experience in data protection, preferably in a consultancy role.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR.
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills.

Job description
Role Summary

Your role will be to assist clients to improve their data protection compliance and/or act as an outsourced data protection officer. You will support clients in a range of compliance activities and, if home‑based, you must maintain a dedicated, secure working area and reliable internet connection. Attendance at the office or events may be required from time to time and travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering data protection gap analysis consultancy
  • Advising on steps required to meet compliance obligations
  • Leading compliance remediation projects
  • Responding to client queries
  • Supporting clients' ongoing compliance
  • Acting as outsourced data protection officer
Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of experience in data protection, preferably in a consultancy role
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR
  • Strong understanding of information risk management
  • Good understanding of information security practices
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to map challenges with solutions
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently, research and identify solutions
Recognised Data Protection Qualifications (preferred)
  • BCS / ISEB Data Protection
  • PDP Practitioner Certification in Data Protection
  • IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM and/or CIPT
  • GDPR Practitioner Certificate
Working Arrangement

The role can be home‑based, office‑based, or hybrid, provided you are within a reasonable commutable distance to our Winchester office. Applications from any part of the UK are welcome, provided you can work effectively from home and are willing to travel to client sites from time to time.
