Job description

We're looking for a full-time, permanent, Assistant Transport Operations Manager to support the transport management at our Iceland sites in Swindon. You'll be directly responsible for supporting the Transport Operations Manager in the overall running of a safe, efficient, and cost-effective grocery retail transport operation. This is a full-time, permanent position, predominantly working Monday to Friday, 08:00 till 16:30. However, we do ask for some flexibility, as is common in logistics.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing our fast-paced transport operation alongside the Transport Operations Manager, ensuring safety, performance, and compliance.
  2. Controlling the optimal utilisation of drivers, coordinating training requirements, and managing fleet, compliance, and transport equipment.
  3. Ensuring the operation is cost-effective by identifying and implementing improvements or optimisation opportunities.
  4. Coordinating customer requirements, ensuring satisfaction, procedural conformance, and achievement of SLAs and KPIs.

Requirements:

  1. Proven track record as a Transport Manager in a fast-paced distribution environment, preferably with FMCG retail or temperature-controlled logistics experience.
  2. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  3. International CPC and excellent knowledge of transport compliance and legislation.
  4. Leadership skills to develop, motivate, and inspire a team, with a focus on optimisation and continuous improvement.

Salary:
