The Role:
Join Mejuri’s retail leadership team during an exciting growth phase. Our global retail team is expanding with stores opening across Canada, the US, and the UK, with a goal of 30 stores in our scaling retail network by year end.
As our newest Assistant Store Manager, you are a charismatic leader with exceptional service and sales acumen. Reporting to the Store Manager, you will support all aspects of the store including operations, drive customer service excellence, increase profitability, and foster an environment of motivation and engagement to enable the store team to achieve company goals and objectives. You are a dynamic individual with an entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional customer service skills and a passion for leading and coaching teams. In supporting the Store Manager you are second in command and will have a tremendous impact on driving growth and achieving KPIs, providing best-in-class customer service, supporting talent acquisition & development, visual merchandising, and operations, while demonstrating Mejuri core values. You will contribute to a retail environment focused on clients and a sales culture, with a focus on data-driven decision making.
- Support the development of store business strategies, as defined by the Store and District Manager
- Maximize results and achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by driving personal and team performance
- Drive business through clienteling, sourcing new customers, and fostering ongoing relationships
- Review weekly and monthly sales and product performance data and take action to improve sales
- Establish and implement changes to improve product performance where possible
- Improve sales performance through feedback, coaching and training
- Review space productivity data and maximize productivity and sales
- Gather insights from customers and communicate them to HQ
- Support in-store marketing and promotional initiatives and communicate cross-functionally
- Support local and community events and lead the event submission process at the store, aiming for 2 events per fiscal quarter; follow the Events Playbook and report post-event
- Improve in-store customer experience by communicating and training staff on Mejuri’s Steps of Selling
- Provide in-store coaching to staff on hosting, customer service and product knowledge
- Champion an OMNI business mentality to remove barriers to purchase
- Be the voice of the customer, communicating insights to Mejuri HQ as needed
- Promptly respond to and escalate customer complaints
Leadership:
- Assist the Store Manager in coaching and developing a service-minded, high-performing team
- Assist in hiring for key team members in your store
- Build collaborative relationships in your market and with HQ
- Create and participate in onboarding and training activities to ensure high delivery standards
- Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and goal achievement
- Clearly communicate standards and demonstrate desired behaviors; lead by example
- Assist in monitoring Employee Relations matters and foster a positive work environment
- Manage turnover by maintaining a positive, engaging workplace
- Embed Mejuri values in daily team activities
- Build a candidate pipeline for current and future openings
- Monitor team compliance with Mejuri policies and procedures
Operations:
- Support maintenance of visual and operational standards with the leadership team
- Assist with store scheduling and labor optimization to support great customer experience
- Identify opportunities to improve daily store operations and communicate with HQ
- Manage office and cleaning supply inventory and place orders via the supply vendor
- Lead stock-takes and ensure timely, effective execution
- Report issues to Head Office including maintenance, cleaning and safety
- Manage store security for products and staff and escalate issues as needed
What you’ll bring to the team:
- Experience as a leader in retail, sales or customer service
- Understanding of local market challenges and requirements for new store openings
- Demonstrated service excellence in a consumer environment
- Tactical thinking
- Current knowledge of retail trends and strong network-building capabilities
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a mindset of experimentation and iteration
- Bonus: experience at a start-up or fast-growing company
