Assistant Research Librarian – Law - London

An award-winning Library and Knowledge Services team in a London-based global law has a requirement for an information professional with a strong mix of research and library skills. This is an opportunity to become part of a forward thinking and supportive London team that plays a vital role in delivering research and knowledge support across the business.
In this varied role, the successful applicant will be assuming a role in which they will be the most junior team member and will have the opportunity to learn from a team of experienced information professionals, refining skills research and management of library resources and subscriptions. You’ll work closely with lawyers, knowledge professionals, and colleagues worldwide building relationships, supporting projects, and promoting the firm’s information services

The primary responsibilities and objectives in the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Handling research enquiries for lawyers and senior stakeholders, including some competitive intelligence for BD.
  • Supporting in the management of print and digital collections across multiple offices, including cataloguing, renewals, and budget support.
  • Running inductions for new joiners and trainees
  • Contributing to teams current awareness services.
  • Supporting knowledge initiatives including maintaining intranet content and promoting best practice across the global team.
To be a suitable candidate for this role, candidates require the following:
  • Previous experience in a law library and a qualification in Library or Information Science.
  • Strong knowledge of legal research tools such as Westlaw, Lexis+, Practical Law, and familiarity with library catalogues.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • A proactive, service-driven approach and confidence in building relationships at all levels.
  • Refined communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills
