OVERVIEW

A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and driven Assistant Project Manager to join a leading construction consultancy based in Nottingham. This role involves working across a broad range of projects with responsibilities spanning both pre- and post-contract stages.

ROLE

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support senior project managers and gradually take ownership of specific project tasks. You’ll be involved in a variety of functions including contract administration, project programming, client liaison, and consultant coordination.

You will play a key role in planning, managing, monitoring, and delivering construction projects that meet time, budget, and quality expectations. There is strong potential for career development and progression into more senior roles.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting senior project managers and leading on specific project elements
  • Understanding and delivering on client briefs
  • Chairing project and design meetings, and issuing minutes
  • Preparing and updating project programmes and documentation
  • Coordinating between project team, client, and contractor
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, and managing deliverables
  • Assisting with tender processes and project bids
  • Delivering progress reports to clients and management
  • Supporting lessons learnt reviews and business‑related tasks
  • Always maintaining a professional and helpful manner
PERSON

The ideal Assistant Project Manager will bring:

  • Industry‑related degree or working towards one
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a consultancy or contractor environment
  • Familiarity with JCT and NEC contracts (desirable)
  • Experience with developers or main contractors (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and organisation skills
  • A proactive, self‑starting attitude with a passion for the industry
  • Competency with Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of RIBA stages and procurement practices
  • Technical understanding of construction processes
  • Willingness to travel to London once a week
