Job summary

A recruitment firm is seeking an Assistant Planner in the West Midlands region. The successful candidate will assist in preparing planning applications and conducting assessments, supporting senior planners, and engaging with stakeholders. A degree in Urban Planning or a related field along with strong analytical and communication skills is essential. This permanent position offers a salary range of £28k-£35k.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with GIS software or mapping tools is a plus.

Assistant Planner

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and review of planning applications, zoning proposals, and development plans.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate planning proposals and ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Support senior planners in the preparation of reports, presentations, and planning documents.
  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to land use, transportation, and environmental impacts.
  • Help engage with stakeholders, including local authorities, developers, and the public, to gather input on planning projects.
  • Conduct research on current planning policies, legislation, and urban development trends.
  • Maintain and update planning records, maps, and GIS data.
  • Assist in the preparation of feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments.
  • Provide administrative support to the planning team as needed.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
