The Marketing Planning team sits at the heart of marketing for Currys. Leading and orchestrating marketing, strategy and comms for Currys, to help achieve their ambition to help all everyone enjoy amazing technology.

The Assistant Marketing Planning Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the development, planning and execution of marketing campaigns. Your role will focus around supporting the end-to-end planning, co-ordination and delivery of world class marketing campaigns (advertising, social, influencer, PR, Creative, Content & CRM) as part of the wider customer facing initiatives we put out – thereby step-changing customer perceptions, growing CLV and delivering major commercial value (short & long-term).

In your day-to-day role, you will support the Marketing Planning Manager, acting as a connector between commercial and execution teams. You will also get the opportunity to lead some of the ATL (Above the line) campaigns bringing the amazing concepts to life.

You will support the Marketing Planning team with administrative work to ensure a smooth a Quarterly Promo & Event Planning Process (QPEP), including setting up documents, collation of actions taken through the process and following up to ensure these actions are delivered across the marketing teams. You will also help support the Promo Planning & ATL teams with administrative work to ensure planning and execution of campaigns goes as smoothly as possible.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Marketing Planning Manager with creation and maintenance of comms steering document, action trackers (PEP & ATL) and any other supporting Marketing Planning documents
  • Manage action tracking for the Marketing Planning team, across Quarterly Promo & Event Planning (QPEP) meetings, ensuring all stakeholders are kept up to date with outstanding actions
  • Where owning and supporting on initiatives: create amazing briefs, manage your initiative through the Quarterly Promo & Event Planning Process (QPEP) and sign off the plan
  • Support Marketing Planning in managing Tier 2 briefs, end to end, from planning through to execution
  • Support Marketing Planning in managing ATL In Life briefs, end to end, from planning through to execution
  • Assist the Marketing Planning Manager (s) across Peak planning and execution (Black Friday, Christmas & January Sale) with ad-hoc tasks where required
  • Support Marketing Planning in managing POE (proof of execution) on a range of campaigns, creating the packs, managing channels and their input and then sharing to GTM teams
  • Assist the Marketing Planning and Central Promo Planning teams with our annual planning process, helping to support the marketing team and commercial teams in planning new and exciting events for the following year’s trade plan
  • Supporting in the ownership alongside the Marketing Planning and Central Promo Planning teams with the new tech process, helping to bring exciting new tech launches to market
Required Skills & Experience
  • Marketing experience – ideally in the fast-paced retail environment
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with good attention to detail to ensure line level accuracy
  • Good level of commercial acumen
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash
  • Ability to build relationships and be a team player
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, capable of presenting to team forums as well as working cross functionally to achieve the desired results
  • Must be a driven individual who can demonstrate strong tenacity and resilience
