Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant

Location : Borehamwood

Salary : £42,000

Hours : 9.00-5.30 Mon-Fri

Purpose of the role

The Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting core financial processes, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with month-end reporting to support informed business decisions

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and monthly reporting activities across multiple accounts and currencies
  • Maintain sales and purchase ledgers, including invoicing, intercompany recharges, and reconciliations
  • Oversee bank controls, supplier payments, expenses, and credit card reconciliations
  • Validate purchase invoices, monitor exceptions, and support strong financial controls
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow reports, and financial projections
  • Monitor budgets versus actuals, highlighting risks or variances to senior management
  • Prepare and submit UK VAT returns, EC sales returns, and overseas VAT filings as required
  • Support project accounting, including timesheets, profitability reporting, and analysis
  • Produce consolidated accounts and ad-hoc financial analysis for senior stakeholders
  • Maintain awareness of UK and international tax changes and support access to external funding where applicable
Skills and Attributes
  • Qualified or part-qualified (AAT / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent),
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate financial records and spot discrepancies quickly
  • Experience in transactional and month-end processes
  • Confident user of accounting systems and Excel
  • Organised and reliable, able to manage deadlines, prioritise workloads, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
