Job summary

Overview

Assistant Accountant (EMEA)

Contract Type: Temp - Full time. Location: UK-Harrow. Work Pattern: Hybrid (3 days/week Onsite). Estimated Start Date: October 2025. Reporting To: Senior Finance Manager.

About the Role: We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our EMEA Finance team. You will be working in the Financial Control team, managing month-end reporting for EMEA entities, balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with quarterly reviews, year-end processes, internal and statutory audits, and ad-hoc tasks. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and working closely with the Global team for alignment of accounting policies and processes.

Qualifications
  • Relevant qualifications: A degree in accounting or finance, or relevant work experience. Part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) desirable.
  • Experience: Demonstrated capability in accounting/finance, preferably in a multi-country EMEA environment.
  • Technical skills:
    • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel.
    • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics will be useful.
    • Familiar with tax compliance (VAT, WHT).
    • Familiarity with accounting principles, bookkeeping practices.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: ability to analyse financial data, identify errors, and find solutions.
    • Attention to detail: accuracy is crucial in accounting.
    • Organisational skills: ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and keep records organized.
    • Communication skills: effective communication with colleagues and other stakeholders; team player.
    • High level of personal motivation and initiative with the ability to work to tight deadlines in a flexible and evolving environment.
    • Self-starter who is continually looking to improve.
Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting and Accounting:
    • Responsible for month-end and year-end closing processes for allocated EMEA entities, including journal entries, accruals and prepayments.
    • Perform balance sheet reconciliation and resolve discrepancies.
    • Intercompany recharge reconciliations for all EMEA entities with counterparties in the US and Asia.
    • Assist in preparing commentaries in the Group quarterly review.
    • Assist with VAT, tax filing and statutory reporting requirements across EMEA jurisdictions.
  • Process Improvement and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
    • Assist with system testing for new functionalities (Dynamics 365).
    • Responsible for ONS reporting.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Global team.
    • Support ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required.
    • Support Treasury functions.
