Job summary

Asset Building Surveyor

Location: 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead, CH412YA

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 2+ Months

Working Hours: Mon Fri, 09:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £66.67 per hour

Job Responsibilities
  • Inspect and survey Council properties and prepare detailed condition reports.
  • Manage program delivery and contract administration.
  • Follow procurement processes according to Council rules.
  • Advise schools and building managers on maintenance and projects.
  • Collaborate with school heads and governing bodies on building projects.
  • Work with senior management to prepare project briefs.
  • Stay updated on relevant legislation and apply it to policies.
  • Maintain records and timelines for each program.
  • Issue instructions to consultants, contractors, and technical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety laws.
  • Prepare reports, cost estimates, and correspondence; conduct meetings.
  • Prepare orders for repair and maintenance works using the Council's system.
Person Specifications
Must Have
  • HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent.
  • Initiative, experience, and design and management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of planning and building regulations.
  • Experience managing contractors on site.
Nice to Have
  • Professional Construction qualification (MRICS, CIOB) or BSc in Building Surveying.
  • Knowledge of construction framework arrangements and Quality Assurance.
  • Experience in public sector construction design.
  • Experience with consultants and information management systems.
  • Teamwork experience to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of Partnering and "Re-thinking Construction" principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, Access, and Databases.
