A unique Specialist School in Newbury are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team as soon as next week. All the pupils at the school have diagnosed social, emotional and mental health needs, as well as associated challenging behaviours and adverse childhood experiences. The school are therefore looking for a Graduate who is knowledgeable about Psychology or Criminology, passionate about helping young people and interested in a career in Youth Engagement.

This Specialist School have a deep focus on addressing the educational, social and therapeutic needs of each student, focusing on individual happiness and well‑being where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. The ideal Learning Support Assistant will have excellent interpersonal skills, resilience, empathy and previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults.

As a Learning Support Assistant, will help to identify and overcome any learning barriers that the students face, and help build self‑esteem, social skills and emotional resilience. You will also implement positive behaviour strategies, with the help of the class teacher and multi‑therapy teams, and motivate the students to make appropriate choices.

This role is perfect for anyone interested in a career in Youth Engagement. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will gain hands‑on experience working with vulnerable children; and through building strong, robust relationships, you will increase the engagement, attainment and life chances of the students.
