Temporary Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Rochdale)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Rochdale on a temporary basis. This role involves supporting young people with Autism (ASC), helping them to access learning and develop socially and emotionally within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with Autism
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Support pupils with challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour management strategies
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
  • Encourage independence, communication, and positive social interaction
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASC)
  • Experience managing or supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach
  • A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow school policies
Desirable
  • Experience working within a primary school setting
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEND, or behaviour support
