Overview

Arts Educator (Upper Strings) — 18 hrs per week (negotiable). Salary: DPA Level 1 - 6 (£23,368 - £34,100 pro rata). Location: Various education settings within the Dudley Borough.

Dudley Performing Arts (DPA) is a leading delivery partner within the Black Country Music Education Hub. We provide high-quality music tuition across schools, academies, colleges and other educational settings throughout the Dudley borough. Our work supports the National Plan for Music Education and includes small group and individual tuition, whole-class teaching, early years music and a wide range of performance ensembles.

Role and Responsibilities
  • We are currently looking for an upper strings specialist to join our team. A fixed term contract for 18 hours per week is available with flexibility to work additional hours if appropriate. An additional monthly payment is available for those who hold QTS. All Dudley Performing Arts staff will be automatically enrolled into the Teacher’s Pension Scheme.
  • The successful candidate will have a high level of performance skills and an excellent base of knowledge and understanding linked to bowed strings tuition. A general knowledge of music is expected to an advanced level, as is the ability to communicate subject knowledge effectively.
  • Performance skills to post grade 8 are required on the specialist instrument. We expect candidates to be practicing musicians who are actively involved in music making. We are particularly interested to hear from musicians who have been involved in education projects or have undertaken teaching duties either on a voluntary or professional basis.
  • Our tutors work across over 90% of Dudley schools, delivering a broad and exciting programme of music education. Opportunities include:
