Job description

We are looking for an ambitious Apprentice/Graduate Public Health Engineer to assist in the design, specification and coordination of Public Health Engineering Services and other Building Services.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the delivery of all project work not limited to drawings, reports, specifications, H&S Plans, Feasibility Studies etc in accordance with the requirements of the responsible engineer as required.
  • Preparation of engineering calculations under the supervision of the responsible engineer, utilising approved software tools including excel spreadsheets, H2X etc.
  • Preparation of drawings & 3D models as directed by the responsible engineer, utilising software tools including AutoCAD and Revit etc. to the Company standards.
  • Reporting all issues regarding the delivery of designated work to the responsible engineer.
  • Preparation and collating of project documentation as required.
  • Assisting in surveying of plant, services and equipment and providing information to the responsible engineer as necessary.
  • Understanding relevant design standards and assisting in assessments of compliance with relevant statutory requirements and regulations, including relevant records and system requirements of the Company, and of those Engineering Institutions with which the Company is associated.
  • Liaise with all Group representatives including Clients, other Consultants, Contractors, Manufacturers, the Company Representatives etc as directed from the responsible Engineer.
  • Assisting in administration, project management, site supervision and commissioning of projects in accordance with the Client's Brief, cost constraints and programme.
  • Assisting in the organisation, storing and archiving of all project documentation as required and in accordance with the Company's procedures.
  • Deliver all work to quality levels, within financial and time budgets as directed by the responsible engineer.
  • Any other duties reasonably required of the post-holder following consultation.
Qualifications
  • Work experience or apprenticeship within a building services design environment.
  • Computer literate with experience in drawing or design software.
  • Suitably qualified to enrol on a degree or MSc in Building Services/ Engineering, accredited by ECUK for CEng status.
  • A positive working attitude with good communication skills and flexibility to adapt in a dynamic role within an established building services design team reporting directly to a Project Manager or Engineer as appropriate.
