Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in the UK is seeking an Advanced Applied Sciences Engineer to apply scientific engineering knowledge to complex mechanical and fluid problems. Responsibilities include detailed FEA studies, CAD design, lab testing, and technical report writing. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background, proficiency in computational modelling and experience with Abaqus. This role offers opportunities to build trusted client relationships and contribute to innovative projects.

Qualifications

  • First or high 2:1 classification in a relevant accredited degree program.
  • Strong understanding of engineering & design (including maths and physics).
  • Experience in computational modelling such as FEA or CFD.
  • Experience with Abaqus.
  • Coding skills, particularly in Python and Matlab.
  • Proficient in CAD.
  • Knowledge of engineering materials.
  • Experimental and/or prototyping skills.
  • Ability to work within multiple cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead work in complex math modelling and simulation expertise.
  • Execute detailed FEA studies using Abaqus.
  • Conduct rapid prototyping and lab testing.
  • Generate concepts and layouts in CAD.
  • Perform tolerance and sensitivity analysis.
  • Design and execute device verification programmes.
  • Write technical reports and high-quality design documentation.
  • Build relationships within existing client accounts.
