GSL Education are currently seeking an Alternative Provision Mentor, to work at a Client Secondary School located in York, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' academic and personal development.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to students in Alternative Provision.
  • Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social needs.
  • Work closely with the SENCo, Inclusion Manager, and external agencies.
  • Facilitate the re-engagement of learners with mainstream curriculum and school life.
  • Track and monitor student progress, attendance, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Provide daily pastoral care.
  • Proven experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural challenges or in an Alternative Provision/Pupil Referral Unit.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with young people who may have experienced trauma or exclusion.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Hold a Child Only Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
