Job description
Overview

The closing date is 13 October 2025

Advanced Specialist Echocardiographer (12 month FTC) opportunity to join the Cardiology Department at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The postholder will be part of a highly motivated team and will work to independently perform a range of highly specialised cardiac ultrasound investigations and contribute to diagnostic reporting.

Main duties of the job
  • Performing and reporting standard and complex adult echocardiograms (including 3D and contrast) and assisting with stress and transoesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Accurate measurements, interpretation of findings and independent confirmation of diagnostic reports to a high professional standard.
  • Deputise for the Senior Chief Cardiac Physiologist and assist to organise the day-to-day clinical-technical services of the Cardiology diagnostic department.
  • Trainer and mentor for junior echocardiographers; participate in quality assessment and audits; staff management and appraisal for junior echocardiographers.
Qualifications and experience
  • BSc Cardiac Physiology or equivalent; RCCP registration and BSE Accreditation (mandatory).
  • Experience at Band 7 level or equivalent.
  • MSc in Health/Cardiology/Echo/Health Science (optional as applicable).
Contract and location

This post is based at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and may be required to work at other sites as directed by the needs of the service.

Salary: £64,156 to £71,148 per year, plus 15% retention premium (annual review).

Contract: Fixed term

Duration: 12 months

Working pattern: Full-time
