Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen within the Blood Sciences Department at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital for a Band 7 Advanced practitioner (Haematology). The successful candidate will be expected to hold FIBMS, equivalent MSc or IBMS HSD, although candidates nearing completion of the above or with extensive experience are invited to apply.

Responsibilities

You will be required to have good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure. Previous experience of staff training is essential as well as experience of UKAS ISO:15189. The successful candidate will work in a busy blood sciences laboratory supporting the blood sciences manager with day‑to‑day management.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (FIBMS), Masters degree, Higher Specialist Diploma or equivalent relevant experience.
  • State registration with Health Profession Council.
  • Minimum 3 years experience at Band 6/7.
Desirable
  • Management qualification.
  • Experience of working as part of Blood Sciences.
  • Up to date CPD activity.
  • Evidence of scientific and technical presentation.
  • Evidence of method evaluation / writing SOPs.
Occupational Experience
  • Evidence of managing a team of staff.
