Job description

Our Dearne Valley 24-Hour Hospital is looking for an Advanced Practitioner in Surgery to join this talented team. You will be supported by our Branch Partner Magda and Head RVN Emma along with their strong clinical Vet and Nursing teams. Its a purpose-built facility with up-to-date digital x-ray ultrasound and full body CT scanner and an in-house laboratory. The practice has 3 large consulting rooms 2 theatres large prep area internal lab facilities and large learning and office spaces.

You will play a pivotal role in overseeing the veterinary team and ensuring the provision of exceptional medical care to our patients. Your leadership skills clinical expertise and passion for animal welfare alongside the support we provide through our regional teams and support centre will contribute significantly to the continued success and growth of the practice your team and yourself.

We are offering full time working pattern of 4 weekdays per week and a 1 in 6 weekend rota.

We offer a relocation package if relocating from outside the UK or more than 60 miles from your current UK address.

Role Accountabilities

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients during consultations and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional care to your clients giving clear updates on patients.
  • Deliver professional excellence observing the highest standards of regulatory practice and operational compliance.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for clients ensuring payment and minimising debt.
  • Work closely with the Practice Manager to maximise commercial performance with a focus on key measures.
  • Engage mentor and develop your team enhancing their skills and utilising these in the most effective way.
  • Inspire your team sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.
  • Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across practices and the wider Medivet community.
Your Skills and Experience
  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
  • CertAVP in Surgery.>
  • Ability to perform TPLO / TTAs or equivalent spinal fracture repair and complex soft tissue (eg. perineal urethrostomy TECA BOAS thoracotomy).
  • Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
  • Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
  • Experience of supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures with an understanding of how this contributes to clinic performance and efficiency.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
