Overview

The main duties of this role are to support the co-production and amplification of Lived Experience voices within the Inpatient Quality Transformation Programme across the two sites Redwoods and St Georges. The post holder will participate in governance meetings and decision-making forums and be a vital participant in the Culture of Care and Inpatient Quality Transformation Programmes, inpatient quality review visits and other forums, amplifying the voices of those who access our services and offering the lived experience perspective in decision making about assuring quality, planning of services and investment decisions. Working across pilot wards at both Redwoods and St. Georges they will take responsibility for designated projects and for co-ordinating co-production opportunities; facilitating sessions that bring together staff and people who access our services and their carers / loved ones to ensure we are constantly developing and improving our offer to meet the needs of our local populations. The postholder will share this learning for wider implementation across MPFT inpatient settings.

The opportunity has arisen to join the Culture of Care/ Inpatient Quality Transformation Team as an Advanced Lived Experience Practitioner (co-production specialism) working across both Redwoods and St. Georges sites. (Fixed term or Secondment opportunity available).

The role of Advanced Lived Experience Practitioner has been developed specifically for people who have personal lived experience of recovery from mental health challenges and of receiving care in inpatient contexts. We recognise the importance of being able to walk alongside the communities who use our services and build trusting relationships through the mutual understanding that can be found in a shared, experiences and challenges.

Lived Experience of receiving care from inpatient mental health services is essential to fulfil the person specification requirements for this role. We are aware that this role may be based in a team where you are currently being treated. Please be aware that if this is the case, your application will not be disadvantaged but upon beginning employment with us, a transfer of care to another team (or potentially organisation) will be coordinated to ensure safe working for your care and employment needs. Similarly, if you need mental health services input whilst in role, we would arrange a transfer to another team to separate your care and your employment. This is in line with our organisational practices for all staff working at MPFT.
