Job summary

A regional NHS Trust in Cornwall is seeking an Advanced CBT Practitioner to provide high-quality CBT therapy to children and adolescents. The ideal candidate will hold a Masters level qualification in CBT therapy and have extensive experience in mental health. Responsibilities include supervising trainees and developing CBT services. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals already employed in the NHS in Cornwall.

Qualifications

This is an exciting time to be joining Cornwall CAMHS as an Advanced CBT therapist. This post is located in the Mid of the county within the Mid CAMHS integrated care area.

You will have support from a network of CBT therapists and the local team, there will be a need to support trainee CBT therapists and provide supervision locally and across the service as well as being able to access supervision with peers.

This role will provide clinical expertise in CBT therapies that require specialist therapy programmes and participation in the delivery of Child Mental Health Services for the local population.

Main duties of the job

To provide a professionally autonomous, high quality, evidence-based CBT therapy assessment and psychological therapy service to children, young people and their families.

To provide specialist advice and consultation regarding formulations and treatment to colleagues and external agencies as required.

To take full or part responsibility for supervision of trainee therapists up to Masters' degree level.

To contribute to the CPD training of other Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust professionals (such as SHOs, Senior Registrars, Trainee Psychologists) as agreed with the manager.

To provide supervision to clinicians with Partnership Services for Children, Young People and Families and others as agreed.

To develop, implement and audit CBT services for Children and Families and to propose, initiate and move forward wider developments in the Children's Service.

To foster and maintain productive links with the other child and adult mental health teams and other service providers and agencies with whom the post liaises.

To undertake service governance activity, including research and audit as appropriate.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Masters level qualification in CBT therapy.
  • Graduate or Post-graduate qualification in social work, nursing, clinical psychology or equivalent KSF.
  • Extensive experience of working with children and/or adolescents with mental health problems.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Qualification in CBT supervision
  • Registered with BABCP.
Skills and aptitude
  • Skills in applying specialist CBT therapy knowledge and skills to complex Child and Adolescent mental health problems.
  • Skills in assessment, care planning and individual and family work.
  • Skills and experience of working in an MDT and supporting team in understanding and responding to client needs.
