Administrative Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as an administrative assistant in our Pathology Department.

You will provide a comprehensive administrative support to the Senior Administrative Officer, Consultant Histopathologists, Junior Doctors, Office Manager and Medical Secretaries and wider Office Team in Histopathology.

The Administrative Assistant will work as an integral member of the histology team, providing administrative and clerical assistance supporting the MDT process, referrals and general administrative tasks.

The job description is not exhaustive and requires the post holder to be flexible to meet the needs of the developing service.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the office team with co-ordination of MDTs, collating patients reports and slides required.

Completing the requests for material to be sent away to external sources, meeting deadlines and supporting any audits and appropriate tracking where necessary.

Supporting the Department Histology cancer tracker with any Two Week Wait (2WW) escalations, supporting the KPI and department turn around time (TAT).

Opening and actioning all income and outgoing post.

Completion of template referral letters.

Completion of general administrative tasks; scanning request forms onto the LIMS system and monitoring the filing/shredding system.

Managing the return and appropriate tracking of patient's material.
