Job description

University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship for Band 2 and Band 3 roles. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship. If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role; however, UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa. You must also have at least six months remaining until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

The post holder will be required to support the team of Medical Secretaries. They will undertake word processing, distribute and file documents as needed. The post holder will also answer telephone enquiries and assist in the coordination of inpatient waiting lists.

The post holder will take direction from the Medical Secretary Team Leader and Operational Services Manager for daily operations. They will have work delegated by the Medical Secretary Team Leader.

Responsibilities include handling internal and external telephone queries regarding patient enquiries and medical notes, locating and tracking case notes, processing documents and meeting notes, and supporting inpatient waiting list management.

The post holder should maintain good working relationships, work effectively as part of a team, ensure high work standards, and share workload within the specialty team.

The role involves following office, departmental, and secretarial practices to improve service delivery. The post holder may also participate in resolving verbal complaints and be involved in formal complaints processes according to the Trust’s policies.

This role requires computer use, occasional exposure to distressing circumstances, and concentration during phone and data entry tasks.
