Description

Convex is looking to hire an inquisitive Actuarial graduate to support the team in achieving its purpose which is to help improve risk-based decision making of the Underwriting teams and thereby influence the successful delivery of the underwriting business plan.

We do this by performing Reserving studies and feeding insights from those studies into the business but also by shaping and influencing the day-to-day activities of Underwriters, Analytics, Claims, Pricing, Finance, Exposure Management & Stochastic Modelling.

Our Actuarial graduates have a top-tier aptitude for numbers, a desire to complete the actuarial exams (which we offer full support) and strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

As you develop into the role, some of the key tasks may include...
  • Reserving activities for major events and US GAAP
  • Compliance with Solvency II including calculation of Technical Provisions and the Standard Formula, as well as the Actuarial Function Reports
  • Partnering with the business on key strategic projects
  • Analysing external data
  • Developing solutions for reserving using technology
  • Liaising with different functions including claims, finance, underwriting and analytics
  • Understand, manipulate and analyse internal data
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • Undergraduate or Masters degree in a statistical or numerical based subject (e.g. Actuarial, Economics, Physics, etc..)
  • A desire to qualify as an Actuary at Convex (full support given)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a technical and non-technical audience, both verbally and in writing
  • Enjoys working in a team on a variety of topics and projects
  • Naturally curious with an interest in topics that directly impact Convex and the market we operate in.
  • Genuine interest in using data and technology to improve processes and decision-making. Coding experience is a great addition but not required.
