PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £34,559 - £39,559 (plus London Weighting at £5,441) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Join the multi award-winning EastEnders team as an Action Prop Master, where you\'ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, story-driven content by managing and coordinating action and continuity props. This hands-on role combines creative collaboration with the design and standby teams, logistical planning for studio and location shoots, and the use of digital systems to track and maintain prop inventory. With a strong focus on health and safety, cost efficiency, and adaptability, you\'ll help bring iconic stories of Albert Square to life in a multi-camera studio environment.

Key responsibilities and impact
  • Take ownership of action and continuity props for a designated block of episodes, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to production needs.
  • Manage Propstore systems and resources, maintaining operational readiness and collaborating with the design team to support filming.
  • Ensure timely delivery, collection, and return of props to studio or location, adapting to changes and following direction from the Prop Master and Art Directors.
  • Have a problem-solving attitude and be able to think quickly when asked to change/amend or fix a prop while filming.
  • Monitor prop-related costs, source cost-effective alternatives, reuse, adapt and/or amend from our extension on-site prop store, and communicate any budget or schedule changes to the Prop Master.
  • Handle physical tasks such as rigging, derigging, and manual handling as required and uphold health and safety standards, ensuring all props and consumables are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose on-site and on location.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Standby Prop Hand in a filming environment, supporting the Design team with action and dressing props.
  • Comfortable with manual handling and physical aspects of the role.
  • Skilled in setting scenery and props, with a strong understanding of health and safety requirements in TV production.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and constructively as part of a standby/show crew.
  • Trusted to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Comfortable using computerised systems, including prop store databases, and experienced in liaising with creative professionals in media environments.
Desirable but not required
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Certificates in COSHH, Health and Safety and Basic Food Hygiene.
  • Trained in Safe Working at Heights and Manual Handling.
  • Experience in Teddy Truck and Forklift Operation.
