Job summary

A Business Services organisation is seeking an Accountant for a 12-month fixed term contract covering maternity leave. This role is ideal for a Finance or Accounting graduate looking for their second or third position in the industry. The successful candidate will work mostly remotely, with just one day a week in London. Responsibilities include managing month-end activities, overseeing intercompany processes, and preparing financial reports. Two years' experience in a relevant role is required, SAP experience is advantageous.

  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous.

We are delighted to be working with a Business Services organisation to recruit an Accountant for their busy finance team. This 12-month fixed contract position covering maternity leave, could be ideal for a Finance or Accounting graduate looking to progress into their second or third job in the industry.

The successful candidate will be working mostly remote, with only 1 day per week required at the firm’s central London based office.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a range of month-end and year-end accounting activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Oversee intercompany and cross-charge processes, ensuring accurate postings, reconciliations, reporting and timely query resolution.
  • Prepare and maintain statutory and management reporting requirements, including VAT returns, periodic external reporting and audit support.
  • Review overheads and key cost areas, performing variance analysis and providing clear commentary to support financial control.
  • Support budget holders and key stakeholders with financial information, analysis and responses to ad hoc queries, including P&L and reporting tools.
  • Maintain core accounting structures and systems, including chart of accounts and period close activities within ERP systems.
