This Accountant role offers you the opportunity to be at the heart of our Global Accounting Team where your expertise will drive timely accurate financial reporting and maintain the highest standards of balance sheet integrity.

You’ll help deliver exceptional value to key business partners and group finance through strategic collaboration, build meaningful relationships with team members and business counterparts and take ownership of critical financial processes that directly impact our success.

We’re looking for a detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment committed to excellence in customer service and colleague support. You’ll ensure seamless adherence to company policies while consistently meeting deadlines and exceeding service expectations for our valued Taylor & Francis customers and team members.

We believe that great things happen when people connect face‑to‑face. That’s why we work in‑person with each other or with customers and partners three days a week or more. When you’re not spending time together in one of our offices or other workplaces like at conference, you get the flexibility and support to work from home or remotely.

The successful candidate will be able to utilise our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance of our offices to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office locations to collaborate as required. There is an expectation for a minimum of 3 days per week in‑person time in our office in Colchester.

What you will be doing
  • Prepare, reconcile and analyse where appropriate aspects of the monthly Management Accounts for specific product areas ensuring high quality on time deliverables
  • Understand and apply, within working practices, the key drivers that impact the monthly Management Accounting reports
  • Carry out a preliminary review of assigned areas providing commentary on variances to budget forecast and prior year by working closely with the FP&A and wider teams
  • Assist in the production of financial analysis
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with Balance Sheet Integrity guidelines within the set timeframes
  • Publish financial results in the relevant finance system
  • Carry out mid‑month duties with the team on a rota system
  • Analyse and solve ad‑hoc problems using your knowledge of the business and the systems
  • Assist internal and external auditors
  • Help to coach and assist more junior members of the team
  • Seek to improve process and automate where possible
  • Assist with ad‑hoc duties as needed including covering workload in other teams and providing support and cover in times of team absence
Qualifications
  • Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Be able to manage competing priorities and achieving deadlines whilst delivering a high standard of work and supporting the team as and when needed
  • Solid at building relationships with stakeholders within and outside of the organisation
  • Good presentation skills
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • SAP knowledge preferred

Interview process
