Job description

We are working on behalf of our client who is recruiting for an Accounts Technician to join their local reputable practice based in Belfast. Reporting to the Managing Partner you will be responsible for assisting in the day to day running of a busy accounts department working with various clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Preparation of management accounts and VAT returns
  • Data analysis, reconciliations and other general accounting tasks
  • Supporting clients with cloud accounting software (Xero, Sage etc)
  • Processing weekly and monthly payrolls for a range of clients
  • Assisting with tax return preparation and other compliance tasks
  • Communicating directly with clients and addressing queries in a professional manner
Candidate Requirements
  • Accounting Technician or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CAI or similar)
  • For trainee applicants - University degree with a minimum 2:1 classification
  • Previous experience of working in an accountancy practice is essential
  • Forward-thinking mindset and a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage time and priorities effectively
  • Good communication skills and a client-focused approach
  • Full driving licence preferred
