Role Overview

DF Capital is a regulated bank and listed on the London Stock Exchange, and we are looking for an enthusiastic finance professional to support our Financial Controller. The role involves a broad range of tasks and responsibilities, from management and financial reporting duties to assisting on business‑wide projects. You will gain exposure to a variety of reporting requirements, including year‑end accounts, interim results, trading updates, Board & ExCo reporting, monthly management accounts, and quarterly/annual taxation returns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Financial Controller with management and financial reporting duties across the organisation.
  • Prepare consolidated and company accounts to high standards and support the audit process to schedule.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations, P/L analysis, and management reporting commentary.
  • Manage intercompany accounts and recharges, and complete monthly commentary & variance analysis for presentation to the CFO.
  • Prepare tax returns (VAT, CIT, ERS, P11D, etc.), support internal tax queries, and liaise with external tax advisors.
  • Provide cost centre reporting, cost analysis, project budget tracking, and bank account management.
  • Represent the team on cross‑departmental projects, champion the tax perspective, and collaborate with Change, Robotics and MI teams to improve Finance processes and controls.
  • Challenge existing financial control processes, utilising automation tools and AI to drive improvements and efficiencies.
  • Prepare internal compliance documents such as policies, accounting memos, and SOPs.
  • Assist with audit preparation and ensure audit points are monitored and escalated as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Qualified or certified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • MUST have Financial Services experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and modelling.
  • Tax accounting experience (VAT/CT returns, R&D, Capital Allowances) – desirable.
  • Experience using accounting systems (NetSuite, Sage, Dynamics) – desirable.
  • Strong accounting and tax knowledge, comfortable navigating IFRS and HMRC guidelines.
  • Financial mindset with a willingness to dig into numbers and provide variance explanations.
  • Team player, able to work effectively with non‑Finance colleagues.
