The Role

Howden Surety is seeking a legally qualified candidate (law degree or equivalent to NQ and above) to join their broking team based in London. The candidate will be part of the legal and placement team, focusing on supporting the team and leading the placement of transactions with international clients.

What You’ll Do
  1. Broking and placing surety bonds and guarantees.
  2. Building and maintaining relationships with clients and underwriters.
  3. Reviewing and drafting bond forms and indemnities for the Surety team.
  4. Reviewing and analysing bonded contracts.
  5. Drafting, negotiating, and maintaining NDAs.
  6. Assisting with maintaining exposure schedules for clients.
  7. Supporting compliance procedures as needed.
  8. Addressing specific legal enquiries for the team.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Experience in insurance, surety, or banking environments is desirable.
  • Good understanding of general contract law.
  • Background in banking facility documents (including LMA style documents) is a plus but not essential.
  • Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and workload independently.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
