Morgan Hunt is working in partnership with a highly regarded Sixth Form College located in the heart of the West Midlands. They are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic A Level Sociology Lecturer to join a dedicated team of educators.

The Role

You will be responsible for designing, planning, delivering, assessing and evaluating high‑quality A‑Level Sociology to ensure students achieve excellent outcomes. You will help students deepen their understanding of sociological theory, research methods, and current social issues, while developing their ability to think critically, analyse complex ideas and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, stimulating, well‑structured lessons in A‑Level Sociology in line with the relevant exam board's specification
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet students' diverse learning needs, including differentiated tasks
  • Integrate current sociological research, social issues, case studies and media examples to bring relevance to the syllabus
  • Set, mark, and provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, essays, and examinations
  • Monitor students' progress through regular assessments, data tracking, and reports
  • Support students in preparing for external exams, internal assessments, and coursework
  • Assist in developing and reviewing the Sociology curriculum to ensure it remains current, inclusive, and aligned with student interest and exam requirements
Education, skills and experience
  • Degree in Sociology or a related field
  • UK recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS), or willingness to work towards one
  • Experience teaching A‑Level Sociology (or equivalent level 3) to 16‑19 year‑olds; successful track record in raising student attainment
  • Passion for subject; high expectations of students; good teamwork; self‑motivation; resourceful; commitment to continuous improvement
  • Right to Work & Enhanced Child DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
