Octopus Energy is scaling fast - and as we expand our product range (heat pumps, solar, radiators, EV chargers), we’re transforming how we work with our logistics partners.We’re looking for a commercially minded, outcome-driven 3PL Manager to own the performance, cost, and continuous improvement of all third‑party logistics partnerships across Octopus’ network - spanning inbound, storage, fulfilment, and distribution. You’ll ensure our partners deliver operational excellence, cost efficiency, and sustainability through data‑led insight, strong governance, and open‑book collaboration.This role sits at the intersection of supplier performance, commercial strategy, and operational delivery - driving accountability and continuous improvement across multiple logistics partners.It’s an exciting opportunity for someone who loves combining commercial acumen, data, and collaboration to deliver measurable impact across a fast‑moving, purpose‑driven supply chain. One of the primary operating locations for this role will be our Harlow site, with additional site visits scheduled based on operational demand. Octopus follows a flexible working policy, so wider working patterns can be arranged around business needs.

What you'll do
  • Operational Delivery & Daily Efficiency
  • Be on the ground with our 3PL partners to understand real‑time challenges and workflows.
  • Observe loading, routing, and site activities to validate processes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise and act as the point of escalation for urgent service failures.
  • Lead root‑cause investigations on missed slots, delivery failures, damages, and system issues.
  • Work with drivers, planners, and warehouse teams to unblock issues quickly and prevent repeat failures.
  • Ensure day‑to‑day execution consistently meets agreed SLAs and service standards.
Performance & Governance
  • Manage the performance framework for all 3PL partners, including MBRs / QBRs, KPI reviews, and SLA governance.
  • Drive accountability and continuous improvement through clear action tracking and follow‑up.
  • Lead open‑book cost and performance reviews with Procurement and Finance.
Commercial & Strategic Delivery
  • Track and deliver cost‑to‑serve improvements across all 3PL activities (inbound, storage, fulfilment, outbound).
  • Support contract reviews, commercial escalations, and supplier negotiations.
  • Collaborate on strategic projects such as route optimisation, utilisation, network design, and storage efficiency.
  • Develop risk and capacity plans to ensure operational resilience and scalability.
Data & Insight
  • Build and maintain reporting tools that enhance visibility of OTIF, SLA compliance, cost, and sustainability metrics.
  • Translate data into actionable insights and share across the wider supply‑chain team.
Collaboration & Improvement
  • Coordinate cross‑functional input (Ops, Finance, Procurement, CI, Planning) into performance reviews and projects.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of partnership, transparency, and innovation across all logistics providers.
What you'll need

  • Strong understanding of open‑book principles, SLA design, and continuous improvement.
  • Excited by fast‑paced growth, complex problem‑solving, and creating structure within scale‑up environments.
