Responsibilities include managing patient records, assisting with admissions and discharges, and acting as the first point of contact on the ward. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, prior experience in a relevant role, and proficiency in IT systems.
This role is a fantastic opportunity for apprenticeswho are currently studying for NVQ Level 2/3, apprentices should note that thesalary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75%max of band)until they have completed their apprenticeship.

Ward 33 are looking for a friendly,efficient and reliable Ward Clerk to join our busy Trauma and OrthopaedicDepartment at Barnsley Hospital. As a Ward Clerk, youll be the first point ofcontact on the ward providing vital administrative support to ensure thesmooth running of patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity to join adynamic multidisciplinary team.
Previous experiencein an administrative, receptionist or ward-based role (NHS experiencedesirable).
Good IT skills andconfidence in using systems such as Microsoft Office and patient databases.
Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to workwell under pressure in a busy hospital environment.
A proactive,organised and compassionate approach to patient care.
The successful Ward Clerk will be responsiblefor:
Maintaining accurateand up-to-date patient records (electronic and paper-based).
Assist with patientadmissions, discharges, and transfers using hospital systems.
Ensure timely filingand retrieval of medical notes and other documentation.
Manage wardcorrespondence including emails, letters, and phone calls.
Arranging follow upappointments for patients as part of the discharge process.
Act as the first pointof contact for patients, visitors, and staff on the ward.
Answer telephone andin-person enquiries in a professional and helpful manner.
Direct visitorsappropriately and maintain confidentiality at all times.
