Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced HV ‘Senior Authorised Person’ to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will deliver installation and maintenance services for high voltage assets across the UK. You will lead projects, perform safety assessments, and coordinate site work. Successful candidates will have a strong background in electrical engineering, full SAP authorisation, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The position offers flexibility with remote work and potential travel opportunities.

Job Purpose

We seek an experienced, talented, and focused HV ‘Senior Authorised Person’ to join our dynamic team currently delivering installation, maintenance, and product support services for HV assets across the South of England or Scotland.

Business Overview

Lucy Electric is an international leader in intelligent secondary power distribution products and solutions, with features such as remote operation and monitoring. Linking energy generation to consumption, the business specialises in high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications.

Job Context

You will work as part of a highly skilled Engineering division supporting all aspects of HV services to our clients and customers. As part of our team you will support peers in the delivery of HV engineering and also be required to lead projects when called on. We strive forwards as a team advancing our technical skills, knowledge, and competencies together, whilst ensuring a flexible work life balance is worked into our ethos.

Job Dimensions

You will be working with a team of skilled HV Engineers, SAP’s and supporting staff across all aspects of the HV industry. The role is home based with travel to site works included within your working day. Core hours are 07:30 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 07:30 to 12:00 Friday. Depending on operational work and site requirements, additional hours may be required. Opportunities to support additional overtime through evenings, weekends and travel abroad are also frequently available.

Key Accounts
  • Lead delivery of major projects through to smaller day works, covering CDM construction projects, HV asset maintenance, repairs, upgrades, to Lucy Product support.
  • Plan outages, produce switching programmes and other safety paperwork for HV switching activities.
  • Assess safety and apply controls and safety measures required.
  • Complete RAMS, job packs, test certificates and reports.
  • Facilitate a safe working environment during high/low voltage working.
  • Install, refurbish, and maintain HV equipment.
  • Interpret electrical drawings and records.
  • Carry out electrical testing and fault finding.
  • Carry out mechanical modifications and repairs.
  • Complete assessment and completion reports.
  • Schedule and coordinate site work with engineers, sub‑contractors and utilities companies.
  • Assist in managing job costing, material specifications and logistics.
  • Maintain Senior Authorised Person competence.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Lucy Electric and its customers.
  • Maintain all authorisations according to legislative and safety procedures and industry best practice.
  • Liaise closely with the team to understand and manage priorities.
  • Attend training and continuous development opportunities as required.

Qualifications
  • Proven track record of experience in the Electrical and/or distribution Industry.
  • Full SAP Authorisation including sanction for test – UKPN, SSEN, other DNO.
  • Certified in electricity at work and experience of delivering efficient and effective services to customers whether on site or at a planning stage from an office environment.
  • Good knowledge of H&S and its practical implications.
  • Good knowledge of Distribution Safety rules and their application.
  • Computer literate – skilled in MS Office.
  • Technically qualified with a BTEC, C&G or equivalent apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.
  • Full driver’s Licence, willingness to travel and work weekends as overtime or with a day off in the week.
Desirable (Secondary)
  • Have, or held authorisations – Private Networks, UKPN, WPD or other DNO.
  • Training – first aid, IPAF, PASMA, SMSTS.
  • 18th edition / 2391 inspection & testing.
  • Mentoring of trainees.
  • Willingness to work weekends and call outs.
