The proposed PhD thesis topic focuses on the optimal management of energy and control of ship power grid, in both normal operating conditions and in the event of faults considering the hybrid context and for specific operating modes of the ship, such as 100% electric propulsion mode (zero emissions). The aim is to integrate new functionalities on board ships that have numerous converters (active front end) integrated into the ship grid.
This work benefits from a diverse set of data. This data is collected on board ships operating under different mission profiles and with various sizes. This work will draw on simulation methods (HIL, C-HIL and P-HIL) and experimental validation carried out on platforms designed to model and analyze shipboard power grids.
The thesis will be carried out at the ENSM and LIS laboratory-AMU in the COSÉ group. This group has many years of experience in energy management for microgrids integrating multiple sources, in electrical engineering and the automatic control of power sources and power grids, in particular for ships. The group also has extensive expertise in experimental and numerical analysis in these areas. National and international collaborations have been initiated, particularly on the introduction of new forms of energy into ship grids. These collaborations will continue as part of the thesis and draw on the expertise of the researchers involved.
