You will ensure the safety of the premises while logged visitor details and monitored systems. Main purpose of the job :

The jobholder will be working as a Security Officer reporting to the Deputy Post Security Manager and the Post Security Manager.

You will be controlling access of vehicles and visitors coming to the British Embassy and conducting vehicle search. Supervising access control to our buildings.

You will escort visitors and contractors. Making sure that all security procedures are well implemented. Carry out the Locking and unlocking of the building.

Responsibilities
  • Working as a Security Officer at the Embassy & Residence, supervising the access control to the premises.
  • Monitoring CCTV and testing Alarms.
  • Making sure that details of visitors and staff are logged.
  • Issuing Passes to visitors.
  • Make sure that contractors are escorted in the building.
  • Registering and scanning mail and parcels delivered to the Embassy.
  • Liaising with the French Authorities when required.
  • Doing access control and carry out guest list checks during events at the Residence.
  • Completion of Security tasks according to the Standard Operating Procedures.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience

Essential on arrival :

  • Proven track record of working well in a team but also autonomously;
  • Ability to work shift patterns (including weekends, Nights and Bank holidays) and to be flexible regarding taking on extra shifts to cover colleague’s absences;
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent communication skills;
  • Proven track record of making quick and effective decisions;
  • Punctuality and excellent personal presentation;
  • Proficiency in English (C1 Level) and ability to communicate effectively in French (B2 professional Level).
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

Nice to have :

  • First Aid Trained;
  • Previous experience in a security environment (Private, military or Police);
  • Previous experience in Customer service role.

Terms and Conditions

This is a full time, permanent contract. The position is based on a 35-hour week. Ability to work shift patterns (including weekends, Nights and Bank holidays) and to be flexible regarding taking on extra shifts. The monthly salary is 2624€ (gross). In addition, staff receive meal contributions. Overtime payments as and when required.

Security and Compliance

All appointments are subject to professional background check and satisfactory security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to provide a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record, two written proofs of address and two references.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in France are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local French employment law and FCO guidance for Local Staff. The posts offered are not an entry point into the UK’s Diplomatic Service.
