Description du poste

As an Automation System Engineer, you’ll lead the design, implementation, and support of automation and control systems across multiple sites. From concept to commissioning, you’ll apply your expertise in PLC / HMI programming, electrical controls, and process engineering to deliver robust, efficient solutions. You’ll also act as a trusted internal consultant, providing technical support and driving continuous improvement in system reliability and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement control systems for capital projects.
  • Develop and maintain PLC programs and HMI applications.
  • Support and enhance existing systems, including 24 / 7 availability for critical issues.
  • Create design specifications, user documentation, and technical reference materials.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project teams (1–6 members).
  • Manage project budgets (up to $1M) and oversee procurement of control equipment.
  • Lead contractors through design, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure system integration and site acceptance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in control software and hardware.
  • Mentor interns, contractors, and site engineers.
  • Provide root cause analysis and troubleshooting support.
  • Manage system maintenance and obsolescence risk at site level.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in controls engineering, with a track record of increasing responsibility.
  • Strong expertise in PLC hardware / software design and system integration.
  • Solid understanding of electrical controls and process automation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven experience managing multiple large-scale projects (≥ $250K).
  • Familiarity with chemical batch manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of ISA S88 standard for batch control.
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity solutions in industrial control systems (ICS).
  • Lean Six Sigma experience or belt certification.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are a strong asset.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
