Job Summary

We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Psychological Counselor. The position has been updated to include language that clarifies licensed staff applications we will accept and provides some examples of licenses we are able to accept at this time. Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor for Counseling and Wellness Services, this position is responsible for providing psychological and developmental services for students of Eastern Washington University, as well as consultation services and referrals for EWU faculty and staff. The salary for this position is $69,947 (minimum) up to $75,000. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement. Responsibilities
  • Provide culturally informed, time-limited individual and group counseling for students with psychological, social, academic, or other difficulties affecting academic success.
  • Assess psychological and behavioral problems using appropriate psychodiagnostic instruments, when suitable.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to the university community, including after-hours services as needed through consultation, triage, and referral.
  • Participate in the training and supervision of graduate students and/or pre-doctoral interns pursuing degrees in counseling/clinical psychology and social work.
  • Offer consultative services to individuals and groups within EWU on psychological well-being.
  • Develop and deliver educational and preventive workshops/programs relevant to university students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and campus activities related to student wellness.
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Fulfill requirements to obtain and retain licensure as a mental health provider in Washington (including continuing education).
  • Adhere to professional ethical standards and state law in counseling/social work practice.
  • Contribute to program development within Counseling and Wellness Services and participate in related committees and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Clinical Supervisor.
Distinguishing Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate services in an identified area of student concern in collaboration with leadership.
  • Engage in ongoing consultation with center staff, campus, and community partners to develop services and programming.
  • Assess campus needs in the identified area and facilitate outreach programming.
  • Provide input and leadership on campus committees related to the area of coordination.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of counseling theory, treatment models, diagnostic criteria, psychotropic medications, and cultural implications of service delivery.
  • Advanced clinical counseling skills, case conceptualization, risk assessment, and clinical writing skills.
  • Eligibility to be independently licensed (LP, LMHC, LICSW, LMFT) in Washington State by start date, OR LMHCA with full licensure expected within 3 years; Associate License required by start date.
  • At least one year of supervised practicum/internship experience.
  • Experience providing individual and group counseling and outreach services.
  • Ability to apply a flexible, inclusive approach to serve a diverse student population.
Work Schedule

Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm; Some evenings and weekend hours may be required for outreach or crisis response.
