Description du poste
POSTDOC (M/F) - Modeling and Analysis of Prospective Scenarios for Hydrogen in France and Germany

Category: Mathematics, information, scientific, software
Contract: Postdoc

Overview

The use of hydrogen produced by electrolysis along with its derivatives is a key solution to decarbonise sectors such as steel industry, sea and air transport. The French–German CrossHy research project analyses deployment pathways for a European hydrogen transport network in France and Germany, utilising the modeling tools REMix and ANTARES. The project fosters regular exchanges between French and German teams and includes a three‑month research stay in Stuttgart within the DLR team.

Responsibilities
  • Enhance model inputs and hydrogen demand flexibility representation:
    • Consolidate input datasets for the various models
    • Investigate methods to better represent hydrogen demand flexibility in both models; implement required changes in ANTARES
  • Analyse and interpret model results:
    • Process and analyze outcomes of the REMix models
    • Define and conduct relevant sensitivity analyses in collaboration with DLR
  • Implement and evaluate model coupling:
    • Implement coupling between REMix and ANTARES
    • Analyze results and assess added value of the coupling
  • Communicate project findings:
    • Summarize and present results to various stakeholders, including public authorities
  • Base location: CEA‑Saclay or CEA‑Grenoble; include a 3‑month visit to Stuttgart.
Qualifications

PhD/Post‑Doc in economic modelling/simulation of energy systems, or equivalent. Interest in energy transition, hydrogen technology and economics. Analytical and synthesis skills. Experience with an energy system modelling tool such as ANTARES is desirable. Proficiency in Python and/or R scripting is an asset.

Methods / Means
  • Development of prospective scenarios
  • Use of ANTARES
  • Scripting in Python/R
Location

Grenoble (with a 3‑month stint in Stuttgart)

Organisation

The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key research institution in France, working on low‑carbon energy production and storage technologies. Partner in the CrossHy project with Germany’s DLR and the French gas TSO NaTran.
