About PhD@Tec21:

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Cofund doctoral programme PhD@Tec21 is dedicated to training the next generation of experts in mechanical and chemical engineering. The programme targets strategic application areas such as environmental engineering, bio-engineering, sustainable energy, transportation, ecotech and cleantech, etc. The doctoral programme is run by the Laboratoired’Excellence Tec21 . Its first call offers 7 full-time PhD positions at the Université Grenoble Alpes in France, withsecondment periods in industry or in non-French research laboratories. The fellows will benefit from high-level, interdisciplinary supervision and training and will have access to cutting-edge experimental and computing facilities.

About the PhD positions:

Depending on each specific research topic, the PhD fellows will explore various aspects of mechanical and chemical engineering, from snow science, fluid mechanics and biophysics to bioengineering and multiphysics modeling.

  • 7 fully funded PhD positions with employment contract, competitive salary (monthly estimate net salary between 2 050 and 2 150 EUR), full social security benefits and participation to health coverage
  • Access to a high-quality work environment, including a personal computer, scientific equipment and access to library and shared lab facilities
  • Access to high-level scientific and inter-sectoral training through 120 hours of doctoral courses and workshops
  • Opportunity for 2-month secondments at an academic institution or industrial partner during the 2nd year of the PhD
  • A vast choice of networking events and activities within the PhD@Tec21 Programme and through the international network of MSCA fellows
  • Access to the UGA International Student Office, to assist the PhD fellows in searching for accommodation in Grenoble and support them with administrative issues including visas, social security, bank accounts, etc.
  • Covering visa fees and registration to the UGA Doctoral School
  • 45 days of paid holidays, sick and parental leaves

Requirements:

We are seeking brilliant applicants from all over the world, who:

  • Have completed a Master’s degree or an equivalent diploma by the deadline of the programme’s call (28 February 2026)
  • Have not already been awarded a Doctoral degree
  • Have not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately preceding the deadline of the programme's call (mobility rule).Compulsory national service, short stays such as holidays, or time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention, will not be taken into account
  • Are fluent in English (at least B2 level)
  • Are available for employment at the enrolment date (1 October 2026)
