Software Embedded Functional Safety and Reliability Engineer

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your expertise in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) within an innovation program for the Rolling Stock activity. You’ll work alongside collaborative and forward-thinking colleagues in a multicultural team environment. You will be specifically responsible for planning and steering RAMS deliverables, while also being expected to understand the proposed technical solutions, challenge them constructively, compare alternatives, and bring an innovative and agile mindset to address railway safety risks and reliability performance.

  • Planning and managing RAMS activities and deliverables for projects and programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and reliability requirements as per Alstom’s policies.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on RAMS objectives.
  • Assessing and demonstrating the safety and reliability performance of Alstom products.
  • Defining and tracking safety and reliability actions to closure.
  • Coordinating with independent parties (e.g., ISA, NoBo, DeBo) to address open points.
  • Providing timely and accurate reporting on RAMS activities and progress.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of RAMS processes and tools.

  • Degree in Electrical, Electro‑mechanical, or Railway Engineering (or equivalent).
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in Reliability and Safety, ideally 10+, with a proven ability to challenge technical solutions and contribute strategically to engineering decisions.
  • Agility, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Understanding of RAMS methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of rolling stock integrator engineering or validation (training will be provided).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including with external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in time management and reporting.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking in technical contexts).
