A global transportation company is seeking an experienced professional in Valenciennes to manage engineering quality for projects in development. Responsibilities include ensuring design reviews, managing audits, and proposing improvements. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Engineering and demonstrate fluency in both French and English. The role requires collaboration skills and the ability to handle complex tasks. Some travel may be required depending on project support.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing quality tools and problem-solving tools.
  • Awareness of the processes delivered as part of project management.
  • Experience in audit is a plus.
  • Knowledge of railway industry standards and certifications would be an asset.

Purpose of the job

Manage the quality of engineering for projects in development phase to ensure deliveries at the right level of quality.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure Design Reviews are well prepared and fed through the Gate Review process, held with appropriate attendees, with blocking points addressed through Engineering single list of open items.
  • Ensure engineering standards are well known and enforced.
  • Challenge the consistency of the design review versus the project risks.
  • Follow‑up closing of engineering issues.
  • Propose improvements where necessary.
  • Manage engineering quality audits.
  • Manage the list of the main problems and check the non‑recurrence throughout project execution.
  • Organise and animate REX committee and integrate return of experience (instructions and golden rules update).
  • Propose improvements regarding design review check‑lists.
  • Support evolution of design processes.
  • Verify the quality status of engineering deliverables (including Return of Experience).
  • Support Gate Review preparation for engineering scope, with the Project Engineering Manager.
  • Ensure the quality of the engineering supplier (engineering subcontractors).
  • Link engineering to manufacturing engineering (design for manufacturing).
  • Ensure product design – FMEA are applied for critical/new functions.
  • Implement Return of Experience in the ‘Design for quality’ and design review checklist.
  • Support tender design and product review.
  • Ensure that the problem‑solving process is properly applied and meets objectives.
  • Ensure that the engineering team is included in the customer’s problem resolution process (if required).
  • Update quality engineering KPIs (design review on time, etc.) and propose improvement action plans as required.
  • Alert in case of deviation, support the engineering team with root cause analysis to feed improvements.
  • Propose and monitor improvement action plans.
Educational requirements
  • Master’s degree in Engineering (electromechanics, electrical, materials, mechanics, etc.) or equivalent.
Technical Knowledge / Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing quality tools and problem‑solving tools.
  • Awareness of the processes delivered as part of project management.
  • Experience in audit is a plus.
  • Knowledge of railway industry standards and certifications would be an asset.
Behavioral and Technical Skills / Competencies
  • Fluency in French and English.
  • Rigor and ability to manage different projects and missions, proactive.
  • Ability to synthesize and manage complex files.
  • Collaboration/teamwork and customer‑oriented.
Job Location / Mobility

Petite Foret, Valenciennes, with some travel depending on project support.
