A prestigious educational institution in Gouvieux seeks a dynamic teaching and learning specialist to lead its Teaching and Learning Centre. This role involves strategic leadership, developing educational pathways, and managing performance to enhance the student experience. The Institute of Ismaili Studies is seeking a dynamic teaching and learning specialist to lead the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) within the Department of Education (DoE). Reporting to the Co-Head of DoE, and working collaboratively across Institute teams, the Head of TLC will play a strategic role in advancing the Institute’s Teaching and Learning Strategy and contributing to its broader institutional goals. The postholder will work with faculty, staff, and students across career stages to develop and implement a range of educational and professional development pathways informed by the scholarship of teaching and learning.
This role leads a strategically important area, acting as the Institute’s lead in a specialist area. It includes significant leadership responsibilities of staff and resources, sharing expertise internally and externally, and shaping strategy and policy through high-level analysis and complex investigations. In addition, the role typically includes the following management responsibilities :
Areas of emphasis include teaching, learning, and assessment in Higher Education; curriculum development; inclusive and equity-minded pedagogies; educational technologies; and quality assurance aligned with UK sector requirements (e.g. Prevent, Safeguarding). Professional Development programmes for the Ismaili community.
The successful candidate will lead strategic improvements, ensuring outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment practices are implemented and maintained Institute-wide. This includes fostering innovation in digital learning, assessment, and creative pedagogies, while cultivating an inspiring learning environment that prioritises student experience, professional growth, and responsiveness to quality assurance and UK Higher Education standards.
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant doctoral degree and a formal teaching qualification, with experience teaching in a Higher or Continuing Education (tertiary) environment and a proven record of promoting high student achievement.
A Senior or Principal Fellowship of AdvanceHE (or equivalent) is desirable. The candidate will bring strong leadership and communication skills, expertise in digital teaching methodologies, and a data-informed approach to quality assurance. As a motivational leader, they will inspire both staff and students, work autonomously, and consistently model a learner-centred approach.
