Description du poste

The Family Services Division provides resources to alleviate emotional suffering, maintain human dignity, and instill hope by assisting leaders to help members develop emotional self-reliance, and overcome obstacles to making and keeping sacred covenants. The ideal candidate lives within a French-speaking country. However, other locations within the Europe Central Area may be discussed.

The Family Services Counselors consult with both Church leaders and those struggling with social-emotional issues. The counselor ensures legal, ethical, and policy compliance as well as protect and guarantee client confidentiality.

  • Offer consultation to Church leaders, responding promptly and effectively to their requests and needs regarding emotional health.
  • Provide direct individual and group interventions to support emotional and mental well-being.
  • Ensure all interventions follow ethical, legal, and Church policies, maintaining full confidentiality.
  • Coordinate and mentor volunteers who assist in providing local emotional health resources.
  • Identify community resources and partnerships that can strengthen emotional self-reliance among members.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across Welfare and Self-Reliance divisions to address emerging mental health issues.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of consultations and cases.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, applying evidence-based practices consistent with Church values.
  • Strong commitment to the mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints.
  • Master’s degree in clinical psychology or related field that leads to a professional license and at least 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Native or advanced in both French and English proficiency with the ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in written form is critical. Additional language skills may also be beneficial.
  • Interpersonal skills working with local Church leaders, senior executives, beneficiaries, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity in handling confidential matters while fostering collaboration and motivation.
  • Brings creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to multi-project environments, ensuring supportive teamwork and effective outcomes.
  • Must be able and willing to occasionally travel and work in a mobile office, outside regular working hours and sporadically on weekends.
