Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for an Aeronautical Engineer - Test Support System (f/m) to join our Digital Technologies Department based in Marignane, France.

It is a highly motivated and engaged team that develops, delivers and supports innovative and high-end SW solutions.

Your mission

You will be integrated into the team responsible for Test Support System activities for helicopters.

The Test Support System is a complete eco-system of “Test Procedure Management Tools”, “Automatic Test Sequencers”, “Real‑Time Test Tools”, “Test Report management tools”, “Simulation Frameworks”, “Simulation Models”, “Hardware interface boards for the Avionics” and more.

In Marignane there are approx. 60 deployed occurrences of such Test Support System, plus many mobile occurrences as well as many deployed simulations running on Linux‑based systems.

Further Test Support System are installed in France, Germany, Australia, Spain, Sweden and Brazil. A close partnership with these entities is to be maintained, requiring international collaboration. A willingness to travel is mandatory.

You will join this team and act as a Project Manager.

Your main tasks will be as follows
  • Collecting the needs and designing test environments for new projects.
  • Being accountable end‑to‑end for the setup and deployment of solutions from the existing catalogue of hardware and software components up to entry into service.
  • Monitoring the availability and performance of the test systems (hardware, software, infrastructure), proactively solving detected deficiencies and investigating root causes.
  • Diagnosing arising issues with a structured approach and coordinating help from various specialists.
  • Complex real‑time tools commissioning including simulation coupling and automatic test sequencers.
  • Providing training to users, and counselling services.
  • Coordinating the test support system activities with other departments, suppliers and customers.
  • Collecting irritants, new feature requests and coordinating with the development teams to ensure consistency between customer needs and development roadmaps.
  • Supporting continuous improvement by logging and following up optimization ideas and learning from mistakes (Practical Problem Solving approach).
Your profile
  • 5 years professional experience in engineering.
  • Knowledge in simulation, software tools, aeronautics and avionics equipment and data.
  • Solid knowledge of all protocols used in aeronautics (A429, MIL‑STD‑1553, CAN‑bus, AFDX, A818, SERIAL, HDLC) and electrical signals used in aerospace (analogs, discretes, LVDT/RVDT, SYNCHRO/RESOLVER, frequency, PWM, PT100) is required.
  • Knowledge in software programming (C++, Python).
  • Strong customer‑orientated mindset and service mindedness.
  • Particular interest for continuous improvement.
  • Technical knowledge on Windows and especially UNIX/Linux.
  • Being pro‑active, willing to drive innovation and having good communication skills.
  • Education in software, aeronautics, electrical or system engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Languages: French and English, spoken and written.
  • This position requires a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
