Job Summary

We are looking for high‑energy team‑members to complete our high‑energy work family as our steward. The position requires following proper sanitation standards in cleaning, some lifting, organizational skills, and preferably some experience in food preparation. If you have a good work ethic, a positive attitude, drive, and a willingness to take initiative, this is the job for you!

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Proper dish washing – wash, rinse, sanitize using dishwashing machine or by hand as required.
  • Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately.
  • Set up workstations and perform occasional light prep work.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g., detergents, trash bags, gloves) and bring shortages to the kitchen management.
  • Check washing machines’ operation and promptly report any technical/performance issues, including water temperatures.
  • Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floor.
  • Clean kitchen equipment including but not limited to stoves, dishmachine, sinks, ovens, grills, charbroiler, fry‑o’later, refrigerators.
  • Disposal of kitchen refuse and boxes, and maintain cleanliness of trash storage areas.

Note that this is not an inclusive list and team members are at times asked to assist with other tasks to best serve the business. Other tasks may be assigned by the Chef de Cuisine or other managers.

Job Requirements
Education & Experience
  • 1 year related experience in a similar position with a top‑tier luxury hotel or restaurant, or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience in food preparation preferred but not required.
Skills & Abilities
  • Commitment to guest satisfaction and service excellence through attention to detail and sanitation rules.
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks; ability to work under pressure, be calm, organized, self‑motivated, and work well with others.
  • Ability to read, speak and understand English to follow directions, procedures, and communicate with the team (using a translator app if necessary).
  • Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimal supervision.

Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Maintain regular and punctual on‑site attendance with the ability to work a flexible schedule which may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays when business requires.
  • Stand for long periods of time; frequently use hands and arms to reach and handle; frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch; handle equipment and utensils with manual dexterity; push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Adapt to an ever‑changing and sometimes stressful work environment.
Work Environment
  • Commercial kitchen environment and storage areas with tile flooring.
  • The position requires the ability to work in both extreme heat from the hot line and sub‑zero temperatures from the walk‑in freezer.
  • High pressure, high volume, fast‑paced, team‑oriented.

19 Vendue Range, Charleston, SC 29401 – The Vendue is in the heart of Charleston’s French Quarter and Art District, steps away from Waterfront Park, Charleston City Market, and Rainbow Row, along with other historic attractions, shopping, and dining.

Hourly Pay
  • $14.00 per hour full‑time. Overtime will be paid at time and a half for any hours over 40 in a week.
  • Sign‑on bonus: $250 awarded after 3 months of employment and an additional $250 after 6 months.
