The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) brings together governments, civil society organisations, Indigenous Peoples’ organisations, scientists, and experts in a unique global partnership. The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (IUCN Med), based in Málaga (Spain), leads the implementation of IUCN’s programmes in the Mediterranean and North Africa, supporting conservation action, sustainable development, and civil society engagement across the region. IUCN Med is establishing a new project office in Tunisia to reinforce national-level implementation of ongoing and upcoming initiatives, including the Mubadarat civil society support programme and projects focused on water, biodiversity, climate resilience projects, and collaboration with national and local institutions. Tunisia is a strategic country for IUCN’s engagement in North Africa. The new office will focus primarily on national project delivery, while enhancing coordination with government authorities and enabling closer collaboration with local civil society organisations (CSOs). Regional cooperation may also be supported when relevant, but the core mandate of the office is to advance country-level implementation. Salary and Benefits Conditions will follow IUCN’s local staff policies applicable to the Tunisia Project Office.
1. Overall Purpose of the Position: The Programme Assistant provides technical, administrative, communications and coordination support to the Tunisia Project Office, with a strong focus on supporting the Mubadarat Programme in all its components, executing and ensuring the integrity of technical and financial monitoring processes for CSO grantees, assisting the national coordination of the programme and wider IUCN activities in Tunisia, preparing and managing communications, visibility materials and project information, and ensuring the timely and high-quality implementation of programme processes and office operations.

The Programme Assistant reports to the National Coordinator / Tunisia (Senior) Programme Officer (TBC initially with IUCN Med CSO Support Programme Manager, and collaborates closely with: Regional Mubadarat team in Málaga, IUCN‑Med Communications Unit, Tunisia Finance & Administration Officer, IUCN Members, CSO grantees and partners, National institutions and stakeholders).
