Job summary

Contributes to the organization of the School's Laboratories guaranteeing the didactic activities of the courses/ programs in compliance with health and safety regulations; provides support to the supply of materials and equipment and supports the optimization of activities in order to improve the quality and technological innovation.

Key purpose of the role

Media Laboratories Planning – Supports the Line Manger in scheduling and organizing the Laboratory, provides appropriate information on the available equipment in relation with the didactic needs. Guarantees the selection and integration of external consultants and tutors according to the assigned budget. Assures and supports the team for end-of-course activities (shows) and for events and promotional activities (Open days, welcoming of students, etc.);

Academic Activities – Ensures the participation of the students on the presentation of health and safety guidelines at the beginning of academic year, in order to present the Laboratory and different equipment and materials; guarantees the quality of laboratories (in terms of technical competencies, spaces and equipment) providing full support to faculty and students during all academic activities.

Equipment and Maintenance – Ensures the supply of necessary materials for didactic activities. Ensures ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of equipment. Assures the loan of equipment to students and teachers and participates and assists them on institutional activities in and out of campus

Purchase of Materials – Supports activities of procurement process for materials and consumables needed for didactic activities; ensures the monitoring of material in stock and their correct disposal (loading and unloading of materials, space management, inventories).

Requestor - Ensures the search of materials, contacts suppliers for a quote estimate, enters the related orders in the procurement sysem, ensures the monitoring of the materials and evasion.

Safety – Ensures the implementation of policies and procedures set by Laboratories Head in order to guarantee a safety work environment in laboratories in compliance with regulatory law; ensures the correct disposal of waste products from laboratory activities.

Technical Support – Guarantees technical support to students and teachers in construction techniques; in fabric/painting techniques; in dyeing techniques and in printing techniques. Assures also support for decorating techniques (if applicable) and the handling ones - use of the winder, use of the spinning wheel, use of the card.
